The essentials

Does it hurt?
Each procedure is done under local anaesthetic where it is needed, so the appointments themselves should not be painful. Expect tenderness for a few days after longer visits and a short period of getting used to the new bite. Ordinary painkillers are enough for most people.
How long does it take?
Usually several months from the first assessment to the final teeth, and longer when implants need time to heal into the bone. Your plan sets out the expected number of visits before you begin.
What does it cost?
Full mouth rehabilitation at Dental Artistry costs from ₹1,00,000, depending on how many teeth are treated and whether implants are part of the plan. EMI / instalments are available.

Who needs it

  • Your teeth have worn down short or flat, and your smile looks older than you are
  • Several teeth are missing, broken or heavily filled, and you chew on one side to cope
  • Old crowns, bridges or fillings keep failing, one after another
  • A loose denture makes eating and speaking difficult
  • Teeth or part of the jaw were lost to an accident, an illness or surgery

One plan instead of years of patchwork

Full mouth rehabilitation treats the mouth as one connected system instead of one tooth at a time. When many teeth are failing, repairing each one as it breaks tends to leave a bite that no longer fits together — and every new repair then fails sooner than the last.

The plan starts from how your upper and lower teeth should meet, how much tooth should show when you smile, and how tall the lower part of your face should be. Every crown, implant or veneer is then made to fit that plan, so the finished teeth work as a set.

Why this is prosthodontic work

Rebuilding a whole mouth is the core of prosthodontics, the dental specialism concerned with restoring and replacing teeth. Dr. Abeda Parveen holds an MDS in Prosthodontics — three years of postgraduate training after the BDS — and practises as a Maxillofacial Prosthodontist and Implantologist, so the bite, the plan and the final teeth are designed by the specialist trained for exactly this.

Larger cases also need root canal treatment, gum care, extractions or implant surgery along the way. At Dental Artistry those parts are handled by a panel of specialists working as a team, with one treatment plan and one person coordinating it, so you are not passed between clinics.

You try the new bite before it becomes permanent

Your new teeth are tested in temporary form first. Provisional crowns or a trial set are made to the planned shape and worn for several weeks, so you can judge chewing, speech and appearance in daily life rather than in a mirror at the clinic.

Changes are made at this stage, when they are easy. Only when the temporary teeth feel right are the final crowns, bridges or implant teeth made to match them.

What it can and cannot do

Full mouth rehabilitation can restore comfortable chewing, a stable bite and a natural-looking smile, but it does not remove whatever damaged the teeth in the first place. If grinding, acid reflux or gum disease caused the wear, that cause is treated alongside, and a night guard is often part of protecting the result.

It is also a real commitment of time and money. Not everyone with worn teeth needs every tooth treated — sometimes a smaller plan that rebuilds only the failing teeth is the honest recommendation, and you will be told if that is the case.

Make every decision with clarity.

  1. 01

    Full assessment

    1–2 visits

Examination, digital X-rays, an intraoral digital scan, photographs and a record of how your jaws meet.

  2. 02

    Your plan and estimate

    Before any treatment

The proposed shape of your teeth, the order of work, the number of visits and the estimate, explained so you can decide without pressure.

  3. 03

    Making the mouth healthy

A few weeks to a few months

Decay, infection and gum problems are treated first. Teeth that cannot be saved are removed, and root canal treatment is done where it can save a tooth.

  4. 04

    Trial teeth

    Several weeks

Temporary crowns or a trial set in the planned shape, adjusted until chewing, speech and appearance feel right to you.

  5. 05

    Final teeth

    In stages

Permanent crowns, bridges, veneers, implant teeth or dentures, usually fitted one section of the mouth at a time.

  6. 06

    Protection and reviews

    Ongoing

A night guard where grinding is a factor, and regular check-ups to keep the new teeth and gums healthy.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation: questions patients ask

What is full mouth rehabilitation?
Full mouth rehabilitation is the planned rebuilding of most or all of the teeth in both jaws so they work together again, using a combination of crowns, bridges, implants, veneers and dentures. It is for people whose teeth are badly worn, broken, failing or missing. The aim is comfortable chewing, a stable bite and a natural-looking smile, rather than repairing one tooth at a time.
How do I know if I need full mouth rehabilitation?
You may need full mouth rehabilitation if many of your teeth are worn, broken, missing or repeatedly failing, rather than one or two. Common signs are teeth that look short or flat, chewing on only one side, crowns and fillings that keep breaking, or a denture that will not stay in place. An examination with X-rays shows whether a full plan or a smaller one is right for you.
How long does full mouth rehabilitation take?
Full mouth rehabilitation usually takes several months, because the mouth is made healthy first, the new bite is tested in temporary teeth, and the final teeth are fitted in stages. Plans that include implants take longer, since each implant needs time to bond with the bone before its tooth is fitted. Your plan lists the expected visits before you start.
Does full mouth rehabilitation hurt?
The appointments should not be painful, because each procedure is done under local anaesthetic where it is needed. Expect some tenderness for a few days after longer visits, and a short period of adjusting to the new bite. Ordinary painkillers are enough for most people.
How much does full mouth rehabilitation cost in Guwahati?
Full mouth rehabilitation at Dental Artistry costs from ₹1,00,000. The figure depends on how many teeth are treated, whether implants are part of the plan, and any treatment needed first. Where implants are included, dental implants cost ₹25,000 – ₹40,000 per tooth, which includes the implant and abutment. The crown placed on top is charged separately. The consultation is ₹500, and EMI / instalments are available. Treatment costs vary according to individual case complexity, materials and treatment requirements. A detailed treatment plan and estimate will be provided after consultation.
Will I be without teeth during treatment?
No — in a properly planned full mouth rehabilitation you are not left without teeth at any stage. Temporary crowns, bridges or a temporary denture cover the gaps while the final teeth are made or implants heal. Those temporaries are also how you test the new bite before it is made permanent.
Is full mouth rehabilitation the same as a smile makeover?
No — a smile makeover changes how the front teeth look, while full mouth rehabilitation rebuilds how all the teeth work together, including the bite and the back teeth. Most full mouth plans also improve appearance a great deal, but function comes first. If only the visible front teeth need attention, smile design and veneers may be the simpler answer.
Can full mouth rehabilitation be done with implants?
Yes — implants are often part of full mouth rehabilitation when teeth are missing, and a full arch of fixed teeth can be carried on a smaller number of implants rather than one per tooth. Whether implants suit you depends on your jawbone and general health, which the examination and X-rays assess. Bridges and dentures remain options where implants are not suitable.
